Origins
The company was founded in 1917 and its beginnings mirrored Japan's development. In the early years of its existence, the company manufactured products to meet the demand for modern, contemporary urban housing. To do this, it used the first tunnel kiln in the country to make ceramics in a continuous flow. It also pioneered the use of automation for production control, which helps to increase efficiency and consistency.
In the late 1980s, the company began to expand overseas in order to benefit from sales and new markets. The company founded the Cera Trading Company to import and distribute other products of other manufacturers to complement its own line of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy boosted sales and increased the firm's global market share.
In the 1990s Toto began focusing on research and development for water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better serve the needs of customers and boost profits. The company also employed the just-in time approach in its supply chain management and sales program. This resulted in a higher level of customer satisfaction.
Toto continued to develop toilet technology. The most recent toilet features a powerful, environmentally-friendly tornado flush. Toto uses recycled water in its manufacturing process and also has a green purchasing policy. Toto also produces bathtubs, faucets, and hand dryers with greater energy efficiency than conventional models.
The first Toto museum opened in 2015. It has exhibitions on Toto's most famous products and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are made of ceramics), the history of plumbing, and even bath units. In another gallery, visitors can view Toto products sold all over. The museum has a bathroom with a WASHLET as well as other toilet innovations.
Before forming Toto the band, members of the group did session work for various musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
You would expect a group with a name like Asia to be a prog band however, it's actually a pretty straightforward rock outfit. The group started out as a quartet, and they released two albums - 1979's self titled debut, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. But even though the band have a variety of musical backgrounds their biggest hit came in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a huge blockbuster, but it was not without its problems. Record companies put the band on place with the directive "give us an album that is a success or we'll sack you" and the pressure was on them to meet the deadline. Luckily for Toto they did with the assistance of the smash single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery is a result of their previous experience. Before forming the group, the band members were session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their sonic signature has since become the standard for '80s pop, influencing many contemporary artists.
스포츠토토 starts off hard, with songs such as Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write great AOR songs that slowly work their hooks into you. The album also has some more mellow, jazzy tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. The album closes with Great Expectations. This song mixes folk and distorted AOR that could seem like a complete blunder, but is very effective.
After Toto IV The band's fortunes took a turn towards the negative. David Hungate left the band to pursue a solo career, and the band was dominated by drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the band continued as a trio, which included Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It was not as popular as IV. However, the band had a successful chart-topping album in 1992, Kingdom of Desire. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was also the first album featuring the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was a return to a classic sextet structure, and an even more consistent and powerful album with a sharper edge. Its edgier sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group and featured drummer Bobby Kimball's greater ability on the drums and a more mature, confident vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard work was as well more refined, more precise, and less derivative on earlier efforts.
After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live show in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album was released shortly after, and the band embarked on a world-wide tour to promote it. During this period, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old demos and tapes in search of an album that would feature songs that had never been recorded before. It was released in the form of a double-album called Then and Now in 2001. It was the first album in the band's history not to feature a single song with the word "A" in its title and it included one previously unreleased track, "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth album, Old Is New was a commercial failure and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis that affected his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.
Downes along with the other original members of Asia--Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened an event in England in the beginning of 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially reforming the band. This lineup, with the exception of Howe (who was working with Yes at the time) was eventually referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
